Color and color theory play an important role in this piece. Blue represent the healing nature of water. The color represents introspective journeys and symbolizes, wisdom, and depth of understanding. Purple is associated with creativity. The color is often a statement of independence, and it’s often a sign a fusing the mundane with innovative. The archways are structures with deep resonance. They embody and symbolize many things: strength and support, lightness, and openness. This is why they are placed on either side of the muse in the center and that the panels themselves are arches. Pathways symbolize transition and transformation. The beginning of a path that you are taking in life, or a journey into the unknown and self exploration. The peony flower can symbolize honor and compassion. The flora in this piece represents mother nature and essence of life. The hands are holding the flowers, which could either be interpreted as a gesture, either to the subject, or to you, the viewer.

Nicole Salgar is a painter and muralist of Latin descent. Growing up in Miami, she has always had a passion for , horror , sci-fi and Latin folk art. She believes it has undeniably influenced her style. Through artist residencies she has traveled to Cuba, Europe, South America and the East coast working with the local communities painting with adults and the youth. When asked about her craft, Nicole says that “art and design are both something I see as a powerful, transformative force which can elevate the practitioners, the people and their communities.” Self expression has always been instinctual for Nicole, and she found her way to communicate that through ar
